That the person resigned (with the date), that they have been relieved of their duties from the close of their last working day, and the period they worked with you.
Why it matters
Their next employer usually asks for it before they join, to see they left properly. Issuing it promptly saves both of you a follow-up.
Before you issue it
Make sure handover, asset return and the full and final settlement are agreed. The letter mentions that the settlement follows company policy.
Questions
When should a relieving letter be issued?
On the last working day, or as soon as the exit formalities are done. A delay can hold up someone's joining elsewhere.
Can I issue one without a resignation date?
Yes. Leave it blank and the letter simply confirms the relieving and the dates of employment.
Do you keep what I type?
No. The letter is drafted in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us.
